The Rare Breed FRT-15 is the original forced reset trigger for the AR-15 — a drop-in trigger that mechanically resets after every shot so you get fast, controlled follow-up shots while still firing one round for every pull of the trigger. This is the gen-1 FRT that created the category and anchors the full Rare Breed FRT lineup, and it remains one of the most-requested upgrades on the AR-15 platform.

Is the FRT-15 legal? Yes. Following the May 2025 DOJ settlement, forced reset triggers that fire a single round per trigger pull are not classified as machine guns under federal law. State and local laws vary, so confirm the rules in your area before you buy. You must be of legal age and eligible under federal, state, and local law to purchase.

The FRT-15 keeps things simple and proven. How the forced reset works

After each shot, the forced reset mechanism returns the trigger to the non-firing position and locks it until the bolt carrier returns to battery. You then pull again for the next round, so every shot is a deliberate, individual trigger pull. That is what keeps the FRT-15 a semi-automatic trigger while still feeling dramatically faster than a standard mil-spec trigger.
